Emerald Dove

The Emerald Dove (Green-winged Pigeon) was split into two species a while back, Chalcophaps indica in Asia and Chalcophaps longirostris in the Australasian region. Birds have been imported into New Zealand zoos and aviculture from many places in both Australia and Asia through most of the 20th century, and it would seem likely that the resulting captive population here is a hybrid one (albeit looking mostly like longirostris).
