False Gharial (Tomistoma schlegelii), Juvenile

The juvenile false gharial that was once exhibited alongside Annam leaf turtles and sailfin dragons at the zoo was recently transferred to the Chinese alligator enclosure at 'River Wonders'.

This move coincided with the recent description of a new species of extinct gavialid, Hanyusuchus sinensis, that once thrived in southern China until the Bronze Age, between the 14th and 10th centuries BC.

I used one of my old photos of the crocodilian in its former enclosure, as it is often hiding in its current residence.
