female Californian quail (Callipepla californica)
most of the Karori/Zealandia photos I had on Zoochat were removed in The Great Purge, so I thought I would re-upload a few. This one is from a 2008 visit. Californian quail are obviously an introduced species in NZ (first released in the country in 1865) and are common most places. Karori is a good place to see them.
