Black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans), wild at Los Angeles Zoo

I think this is Black Phoebe (Sayornis nigricans) but I'm not 100% sure. I'd be grateful for confirmation or correction from someone more familiar with Californian species. If it is a Black Phoebe, is this a commonly-seen bird in the area? Thanks!

      Yes, it is a black phoebe. Yes, it is commonly seen. I had some nest on the side of my house. They build a nest from mud.

      Thank you, @DavidBrown. Birds which can be familiar in one country can be puzzling for those from elsewhere. I showed this to a 200-species-a-year, straight on to the moped to see a dull brown warbler a couple of hours away, birder - but he was floundering.

      They are endemic to western North America. Even though they are a common backyard bird here, birders from other parts of North America come west to see them.
