Former bear enclosure at Mulhouse 29/08/09

Unbelievably this pair of cages still held a pair of Brown Bear and a pair of Polar until the early 1980s. Now home to owls, the historic structure will be incorporated into the new Polar Bear enclosure as an eductional point, which is something I very much approve of.

looks better then the full concrete cages you see in places like russia imo. this photo doesnt give too much of a good idea of the actual size of the cage though.

But I am pretty sure that it was not good enough for polar bears.
    • Onychorhynchus coronatus
Not very good for bears at all. Although it is interesting as an education / historical feature I still think that it could potentially be used to house something albeit a smaller species.
