Is this an indoor aviary or outside? Walkthrough via boardwalk? I don't think I've ever seen a Giant Anteater in such an exhibit before, and not with so many bird species. And there's a lot of fish in there too.
It's an outdoor exhibit with a boardwalk looking over a moat separating guests from the animals. The exhibit is covered a a high-net. The moat connects to a pond and runs through the southern side of the zoo, contributing to habitats for several other bird and reptile species and (according to the map--I did not observe them) enclosures for Tapirs and Capaybaras. San Antonio Zoo may have one of the best South American Collectons in the United States, outside of a Florida Zoo or two I've read about.
A large colony of wild (or at least free flying) Cattle and Snowy Egrets nest is the large trees near the adjacent pond.
