      @Blackduiker have you ever seen "The Giant Gila Monster"? It's one of those goofy 1950s monster movies about a radioactive Gila monster that grows to Godzilla-size and attacks a small desert town. I wonder if the film makers were inspired by a visit to the Old LA Zoo (assuming that they had Gila monsters like the current zoo does).
