Givskud Zoo - Safari (Africa #2)

Part of the second savannah drive-through exhibit on the Safari Route in Givskud Zoo. This exhibit houses rothchild’s giraffes (Giraffa camelopardalis rothschildi), common elands (Taurotragus oryx), maneless zebras (Equus quagga borensis) and ankole cattle (Bos primigenius hahni). A new giraffe house was built behind the scenes in 1988 and a new savannah stable in 1989. Givskud Zoo runs the ESB for maneless zebra. The Safari Route opened in 1972 and was completely restructured in 1991. After the restructuring it consisted of six drive-through enclosures, one of which was later scrapped to make way for the gorillas and one is no longer drive-through. Currently it consists of one Pampas, one Prairie and two savannahs, one non-drive-through savannah and the lion enclosure. July 2012
