Gorillas Watching Ducks (April 2017)

Nice to see a zoo that has Hartlaub's Ducks! Great timing on your photo!

Thank you! This was one of my favorite pictures I took, I loved how interested the gorillas looked.

@Summer Tanager Unfortunately the Hartlaub's ducks are long gone. They're not at Philly anymore, either.

According to a species list by @PaintedDog , there was still signage up for the Hartlaubs as of April 2022, but I do not know if the signs were accurate or if the signs or birds are still there or when either left: Franklin Park Zoo Species List 4/22 + Gorilla Grove Review [Franklin Park Zoo]

@RatioTile I'm very sorry to hear that! This is such an unusual species and there don't seem to be many places where they are kept and bred in captivity.

@ZooElephantsMan I asked a keeper in that building in November 2021 and she said they no longer had them.

What a capture! I love unintended visual enrichment. I also have a question about uploading media, as I am a new member and unable to do so yet. Does ZooChat degrade image quality?

@ZoologicallyDepraved I am not sure, but it doesn’t seem to be a major issue.
