Grazing geladas

The group was spread out in the large paddock so difficult to count . These 2 youngsters did not look to be very old . The colobus were confined to their cage , I have seen a Facebook photo showing both groups in the paddock .

They had access to the whole area but stayed in the cage area when I saw them- there are 7 now. The two juveniles were playing- when one screamed its mother would rush over frantically lip- flapping to protect it from the other. One of them was playing with the nearly adult male too- he is the furthest one in your picture here- his coat is not fully developed yet.

What I like about this enclosure is that its so big their grazing behaviour hasn't damaged the grass at all. By contrast Colchester's larger group of a dozen have made their enclosure bare soil.
