White-crested Kalij [Lophura leucomelana hamiltoni]. horribly under-rated in aviculture, but a very attractive pheasant.
I don't think I've seen Kalij in the UK since I went to Gatwick in 1999. That was a place that liked pheasants; wish there were a few more like it today.
Hamilton pheasant Most Kalij breeders have to limit production because there is little demand for them. There are still several subspecies in private hands; I would expect Blackbrook to still have some on exhibit. PM me if you want contacts [or get in touch with the WPA]
