Hippo/bird exhibit

Very nice from a visitor experience, and not a bad size to the exhibit including a nice pool; however, it would be nice for the hippos to have access to the outdoors and/or natural substrate. BTW, this is a very good overall aquarium. I don't think it's that far behind the likes of Shedd and Baltimore.

Maybe, but it itsn't really neccessary. Every animal, including elephants and rhinos can be kept year round indoors without any problems, if the exhibit is big enough. So the animals are protected for rain, cold and heat, snow, wind and sunlight, a good reason, to keep animals inside all the time. And it is better for the visitors, so they can watch the animals without the wheather conditions.
