This is actually mum Primrose and daughters Tulip and Lotus. Brindabella is kept separate with her daughter Pansy.

Why are they kept separate? Is it just to protect Pansy, as I would like to see 5 hippos together.
    • Jabiru96
Supposedly Primrose has killed a few of Brindabella's past offspring.

Wow very nasty! hippos really are very aggressive for such a placid looking animal!

Having the hippos in two groups also allows them to be seen both from the walking track (three females) and the safari bus (mother and youngest daughter), as having them together would mean no or very poor views for one group of visitors.
