      HOw does this work?
    • okapikpr
Just like hot wire...an electric line runs beneath each spurt of hot wire and charges the "blades".

It is so much better in terms of obstructions for the viewing public than a huge wall or fence.

You'd think hoof stock could step over it or trample this. Obviously affective though.
    • okapikpr
Not quite...they've had a few bongo who would ignore it.

I cant really see what we are looking at "blades?".

Can you give a more detailed explanation matey? Please, what stock is it restraining?

      blades of grass?

Out of each of the dark spots in the track there springs 5 of so metal wires, this stuff is called "hotgrass" hence the term blades. The wires fan out and provide a visually unobtrusive electrical barrier.

Melbourne Zoo have it in their peccary exhibit and giraffe exhibit (maybe others but I can't think of them off the top of my head.) Look out for it next time you go. :)
