Pure Anas platyrhnchos, more or less a Call Duck.
    • Chlidonias
      just a domestic duck.

I thought it could have been a hybrid, as it had a completely wrong body shape.
    • Chlidonias
completely wrong in what way? It looks completely normal from this photo.

It's head didn't seem like the right shape for a Mallard, and the shape of it's body just looked a bit odd (I don't know how, just seemed odd).

As FBBird says, its a Call duck- 'more or less'. Call duck is a bantamised form of domestic Mallard, the head is slightly more domed, the body more compact and the bill very short and 'stubby' while the quack is higher-pitched. This one isn't 'show quality' but exhibits the main characteristics.

Thanks for everyone's help, it is much appreciated :).

Just out of interest, would Anas platyrhynchos be able to hybridise with Aix sponsa, as I know ducks are good at hybridising?
