Within the next couple of years the zoo will send away its spotted hyenas as the Hamadryas baboons will inhabit an exhibit adjacent to this one. A domino effect will have taken place with a new entrance plaza replacing the grizzly bear exhibit, the bears being shifted into a modern habitat where the current baboon grotto is, and the baboons forcing the hyenas out of the zoo. An overhaul of a series of badly outdated exhibits is music to my ears, although the zoo still has a long way to go as other prominent species (lion, tiger, elephant) are still in antiquated exhibits.
I found out that Riverbanks Zoo used to have Brown hyenas in the past, does anyone know more about this ?
Remember Cheetah's, Maned Wolves, Hamadryas Baboon, Spider monkey, mandrill, spotted hyena and spectacled bear being in this enclosure possibly more not sure.
