Missed this species at Walsrode by mere months.

It was one I was quite glad to see, certainly my primary target species at the zoo (as I’d seen the uakari and mountain tapir on a previous visit). I went to the aviary first thing on arrival, considering it is still a shy bird (understandably so, being smuggled). It took me a few minutes to find it but I followed it around the aviary once I did.

Is LA the only US holder of this species?
    • jayjds2
Yes, and one of two public holders of any Cissa birds in the US. The other is Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo with chinensis.

Does Denver not have any chinensis any longer?
    • jayjds2
@Ituri I’ve not heard of them having it at all, so that’d be news to me.

      Denver does not use ZIMS.

Very attractive species - shame the colour is not being supplemented.
