Islands: Lazy River cruise boats

The front boat has passed one of the barless orang enclosures. The second one is passing the wired orang enclosure. Note part of the Monsoon House with ventilators open at the back. Chester, 10th July 2015.

      Thanks Maguari. Thinking of putting off a visit until maybe next year now for it all to be 'mature' and more finished, its a long way for me.

      There are several pics of the boats with canopies on some of the earlier publicity shots. I think it offers a better view without them but I'd rather have my view obscured than a wet bum! I assume they will wipe down any wet boats in between visitors disembarking and getting on. You would think the makers of this ride would have anticipated any issues before hand though??

      Yes, you would. But anticipation is not the same as solution. I get the impression that the complexity of the Islands project has caused so many interconnected problems that some of them have not been solved completely yet.

      Does anyone have a picture of the netted enclosure now the Orangs are actually using it? There isn't one in the gallery.

      I haven't seen them in there yet, but I will certainly try to do so when I can. The viewing window is very well positioned for photography because it is at a nice height and angle with respect to the sun for most of the day :)

      Great... I only saw Orangs outside in the enclosure nearest the Macaques- nothing in the other two except someone mowing grass in the other open one with the Oak tree.

      The gibbons were using the wired enclosure yesterday, while horticulture staff were working in the oak tree enclosure. Photos to follow ;)
