Don't get me wrong, I like seeing water features in animal exhibits where appropriate as well...

I hear you loud and clear CZJimmy!
(And I believe one can walk around the waterfall rockwork in Gorilla Tropics, without "leaving" the exhibit)

No, I was just there on Friday.

To my memory, there are viewing areas on either side of the cliff-waterfall, connected via a path. The zoo map shows connectivity, but regardless I doubt we will ever agree.

Has anyone seen artificial hot springs created at a Zoo for their Japanese macaque exhibition?

If they also had a version for human visitors it might make trips to northern Zoos in the cold winter a little more welcoming.

This very exhibit in Detroit has a new "hot springs" feature":

I believe the Japanese macaque exhibit at the Central Park Zoo in New York also has a hot tub ...
    • snowleopard
Nice hot tub for the primates! The Central Park Zoo's Japanese macaque exhibit is arguably the highlight of that small zoo, as the frisky monkeys have a large pool to splash around in on hot summer days.
