      Thinking this might instead be an olingo- I sent this photo to a friend who's great with IDs and he said:

      "very well could be an olingo, the tip of the tail looks a bit bushy. in kinkajous the tail tapers a bit more, and it usually is gripping or at least held close to a branch since it's prehensile. the easiest way to tell them apart though is calls (olingos are much more vocal)."

      May have a much rarer species afterall! They certainly happen to more common in Monteverde as well.
