Lady Amherst pheasant

May 11 2019

Lady Amherst pheasant
    • Andrew Swales
Hybrid with Golden - but, showing almost no Golden trails (from this angle at least), save just the red feathers bleeding into the green crown. Pure Amherst males show a clean, sharply defined solid green crown and dark red crest, with an abrupt clean dividing line between the two colours.

That said, one would probably be hard-pushed to find a pure Lady Amherst in captivity from what I've heard.... given I aim to do a Galliformes photographic thread soon, it will be interesting to see if I can actually find any good-looking ones in the gallery!
