Megaladapis

True to life full-scale model of a Megaladapis inside the huge Madagascar walk-through in Apenheul. „Megaladapis is counted among the biggest of prosimians that lived on the isle of Madagascar. Archeoindris was even more impressive: as big as a gorilla. These large and slow moving species never had any enemies and were not shy. They became an easy prey for the first humans who settled the island between one and two thousand years ago. Nowadays the indri is the largest of prosimian on Madagacar. It still lives in some protected areas.” Text from the signage found next to this model. August 2009
