      Garden of the Senses: Military Macaw. May 24, 2019. A bit disappointing to see the zoo exhibiting parrots on sticks still.

      I'll never understand how this practice is still relatively common in zoos. Parrots are one of the most intelligent animals out there, so who thought that clipping their wings and giving them nothing but a stick to stand on with no other stimulation would suffice? Its even more bizarre that a zoo with the reputation of Omaha would still have this in the year 2020.

      A nice photo however (I suppose the one benefit of the bird on a stick concept is that they are easy to photograph).
