      Mole Hall could have been a very good, if not a great, wildlife park under the right ownership, but unfortunately the owners, the Johnstone family, lacked the imagination and foresight to realise the potential of the place. When Douglas Johnstone, the son, took over the reins from his mother Pamela, it deteriorated further as he didn't particularly like animals and couldn't understand the popularity of zoos.

      That's the strangest description I've ever heard of someone operating a Zoo! Why on earth didn't they close it down at that stage, instead of struggling on with a selection of decrepit cages etc- it surely can't have been a profitable concern by then?
