Wow and l thought l had seen all the animals in captivity that l wanted to!

This animal is not listed on ISIS?

      Who has them?
    • mstickmanp
Actually, they are listed. These are Coquerel's Sifaka (Propithecus coquereli).
The zoos that currently have them according to ISIS are:
      Maryland Zoo (3.0)
      Duke Lemur Center (14.9)
      Houston Zoo (2.1)
      Los Angeles Zoo (2.1)
      Bronx Zoo (2.1)
      Philadelphia Zoo (3.1)
      Sacramento Zoo (1.1)
      St. Louis Zoo (4.3)

      14.9
      wow....that's alot of sifakas
    • zooman

Thanks matey, l missed the Coquerels part of the name.

14.9 is obviously not enough for a captive population!!! So more to come from the wild. Or will "they" let the population die out in captivity.
    • mstickmanp
No, I think he meant that 14.9 are a lot of sifakas for only one facility, as the Duke Lemur Center does.

      DOHH!! Thx M.

      31.17.6

Hardly a viable population as well.

Is there a story to these animals? are they recent aditions to zoos?
