Unless there have been some exports/deaths, Taronga Zoo should still have a group of 10 (6.4) François' Langurs. The female pictured above is Meili (imported from Beijing Zoo in 2010) with her two-month-old male offspring. The only other zoo to house this species in the Australasian region is the National Zoo and Aquarium which has two surplus males from the Taronga group.

@WhistlingKite24 I believe the regional plan was this was going to be the langur choice for the regions zoos with other species to be phased out, It appears all these years later another bad plan!

@Zorro The four major Australian zoos all have had/have different species of langur in recent times; Perth Zoo had Purple-faced (T. vetulus) until 2005/2006, Melbourne had Javan (T. auratus) until 2010, Adelaide has Dusky (T. obscurus) and Taronga has François (T. francoisi) so it makes sense to focus on one species to support a larger population. It's a shame neither Perth nor Melbourne reacquired langurs after their last ones were exported/died.

@WhistlingKite24 More than aware for all the Langurs species held in our regional zoos I can see no reason why they could not have expanded on the Duskies as well at Adelaide and now look at the situation with just about one group of Fancois in the whole region!
