Nahampoana - Spiny forest

An attempt to grow a spiny forest in the Nahampoana Reserve. It was hoped that it was possible to grow a real spiny forest here such as the ones unique to southern Madagascar but the climate on the east coast turned out to be too humid. The Nahampoana Reserve is located just north of Fort Dauphin on the southeast coast of Madagascar. This reserve offers tourists and travelers a rare chance to see and get close-up with six different species of lemurs and other wildlife. January 2010
