      It is truly amazing at how awful American legislation is when it comes to keeping a large mammal like a bear in a public facility. There are a lot of countries in the world where the type of enclosure seen in this photo would never be allowed.

      @snowleopard IMO this is the worst exhibit they have (not counting the elephant). The bear is obese, has a bad-looking left eye, and was clearly very hot, but there's no shade (unless it goes indoors, where it's probably just as hot). I've seen worse for bears, but that doesn't make this one okay. It kept trying to get attention, too.
