@AWP Thanks a lot for this! Really useful. Isn't the Long-beaked echidna Eastern, not Western though?
    • AWP
There is an ongoing discussion about the taxonomy of Taronga's Long-beaked Echidna I believe. Taronga signed it as "Western".

@AWP Thanks for bringing back lots of memories from my visit to Taronga. The nocturnal house is a real gem. Here is the list of species I saw/that were signed last year in December when I visited:

      Australian Nightlife - December 2019

      1. Greater Bilby, Ghost Bat
      2. Greater Bilby, Greater Stick-nest Rat
      3.Red-tailed Phascogale, Brush-tailed Bettong
      4. Feathertail Glider, Yellow-bellied Glider
      5. Barn Owl, Short-beaked Echidna
      6. Fat-tailed Dunnart
      7. Squirrel Glider, Short-beaked Echidna
      8. Common Brushtail Possum
      9. Yellow-bellied Glider, Long-nosed Potoroo, Short-beaked Echidna
      10. Feathertail Glider
      11. New Calendonian Giant Gecko
      12. Golden-tailed Gecko (this numbered enclosure could have been the specific location for the Spinifex Hopping Mice mentioned below and the gecko could have been in a small newer enclosure closer to the giant gecko, my memory is a bit hazy)
      13. (actually now two separate enclosures in this area) - Plains Rat and Spinifex Hopping Mouse
      14. Long-nosed Bandicoot, Common Ringtail Possum, Tawny Frogmouth
      15. Barton's Long-beaked Echidna, Squirrel Glider, Brush-tailed Bettong
      16. Ghost Bat

@WhistlingKite24 Thanks for this addition. So no quolls and tree rats anymore, that's a pity.
    • amur leopard
But on the plus side, Brush-tailed bettongs ;)

@AWP again brilliant work just like the one you did i saw for Perth's N.H, thankyou so much for making these, cant tell you how much i appreciate. Up until now the one thing i manage to learn is the species names in the N.H from reviews on here which is great. But you show the exhibit size scales which is really cool knowledge to gain.
