North Island kaka (Nestor meridionalis septentrionalis)

at Mt. Bruce (National Wildlife Centre), NZ. Photo taken 13 Feb 2008. This is one of the kaka living wild in the Mt. Bruce forest that are descended from introduced captive-bred birds. There is a daily supplementary feeding so the birds can be counted and visually checked for health etc.
