in 2005 this individual, named Bob, was the only saddleback in captivity (here photographed in the walk-through aviary). A wild-caught female was brought in for him from Tiritiri Matangi island in 2008 (after Bob had been single for eight years) but he died soon afterwards and another male had to be obtained. Orana currently has a pair.
