Buru Babirusa are woolly, not naked. Singapore also was calling their animals "Buru Babirusa" and I think the reason is the same - after the split the name babyrussa became restricted to the Buru population and I think the zoos simply changed the common name to fit the scientific name they were already using, rather than changing the scientific name they were using.

@Chlidonias so North Sulawesi babirusa, Babyrousa celebensis?
    • Chlidonias
Yeah. Ragunan was one of the two big breeders of Babirusa, and all the animals in their (combined) population came from around Poso somewhere from memory. Anyway, all were from within the range of celebensis, and those animals are where all the captive Babirusa came from apart for maybe one or two random additions.

@Chlidonias Thanks for the info! Similarly do you believe that the warthog in Singapore is a desert warthog (Phacochoerus aethiopicus)?

Phew, that's a relief! I missed out on them due to rain (day 1) and lack of time/had been assured they were likely ordinary (day 2) on this trip. Normally I'd like my own photo justtt in case- but no such luck this time haha.
