      This is the last female northern white rhinoceroses and male southern white rhino.

      Sad. Ben was quite possibly the first rhino I ever saw, and at that time (1965) his subspecies would have been thought safe in the wild.

      More foresight would have saved this animal.

      Robby, you are wrong. Both these rhinos are cottoni. Southern rhino has separate paddock.
      Yes, in mid-sixties northern rhinos looking safe. Also all subspecies of black rhino. Very sad.

      When this photo was taken?
      In Dvur Kralove lived the last two female northern white rhinoceros - Nesari and Nabira. But in June 2011 Nesari died.
      Currently in Dvur Kralove living last north white rhinoceros in Europe and male south white rhino imported from Ostrava in 2010.

      The EXIF data states that this was taken on 8th May 2010, providing I've read the day and the month the right way around :p

      Correct, picture was taken about month before Nesari's death. On photo she is on the left.
