      @Maxime: Thank you for posting the photos of what appears to be a splendid giant panda habitat at Beauval Zoo. Other than a lack of a few more shade structures, the exhibits appear to be large, naturalistic, and packed with enrichment items such as logs, rocks and even ladders! The Chinese-themed building with the indoor area is a nice touch (it strongly reminds me of Memphis Zoo in the U.S.) and it will be interesting to see what kind of boost this apparently outstanding zoo receives in terms of annual visitors.

      I've seen giant pandas at all 4 U.S. zoos that have them (I actually saw them all in the summer of 2008) and my favourite panda habitat is found at the National Zoo. Here are two photos:

      Having recently seen this exhibit in person I can confirm that it is arguably the best exhibit for giant pandas in Europe. Although, granted, the completion isn't that hard even though Viennas exhibit is also very nice.

      The best part of the exhibit in Beauval is the large and open indoor area.
