I think the thing that will forever confuse me, and I am one of those who 'want' to like this exhibit, is why they didn't build at least one, but probably two,outdoor enclosures. No need to make them naturalistic, that boat has obviously sailed, but a couple of netted spaces would have been an obvious and beneficial addition. My concern is that there was some sort of 'architectural vision' that meant the O-Line was the only outdoor element. I do think the O-Line deserves real credit. Seeing orangs in the wild is typically a case of craning your head back to look directly upwards at something that is very high. In that sense this is a far more naturalistic experience than those exhibits that put you face to face with one of the apes.
