Oregon Zoo - Red Ape Reserve

August 2008. The orangutan exhibit at the zoo is all indoors and terrible, and has been like that for half a century. However, in spring 2009 the orangs will be joined by gibbons in an indoor/outdoor habitat that should be far superior to their current accommodation.

      This exhibit opening has been bumped back yet again, and it now opens in the fall of 2009. It was originally supposed to be a full year earlier, in the fall of 2008.
