Papiliorama - Jungle Trek (Tayra exhibit)

A view into the separate exhibit for tayras (Eira barbara) inside Jungle Trek in the Papiliorama. This picture shows about 1/4 of the exhibit for this species which the Papiliorama is one of the few zoos in Europe to keep and breed. Jungle Trek is a dome-shaped tropical house 40 meters in diameter and 18 meters tall. It was opened in 2008 and was a major expansion of the Papiliorama. Jungle Trek is meant to be “a little piece of Shipstern”, the nature reserve in Belize that the Papiliorama Foundation manages in situ, and shows wildlife from that region. Papiliorama, July 2010.
