Papiliorama - Kerzers
The buildings of the Papiliorama as seen from the railway outside the small town of Kerzers in Switzerland. The Papiliorama is a tropical zoo focused on butterflies and wildlife from Central America and originally founded in 1988. After being destroyed by fire in 1995 and rebuilt the same year it was finally moved to its current and much bigger location in 2003. The Papiliorama is run by the Papiliorama Foundation which runs both the zoo and its main conservation project: The Shipstern Nature Reserve. Shipstern is located in Belize and the link between the zoo and nature reserve is clear as the Papiliorama almost exclusively displays animals from this region. Papiliorama, July 2010.
