"Java Green" is often used to describe all Green Peafowl but this has led to some interbreeding in captivity. In the most correct terms this is a Burmese Green Peafowl (Pavo [muticus] spicifer). Some experts consider them a distinct species but studies are still undergoing. It tends to be more matte-coloured ("duller" is the unfortunate term often used) than other Green Peafowl, with the dark colours of the crown extending further down the nape.
