Is this the massive paddock that actually has the zoo train running through it? I seem to remember at least 3-4 species of deer in this heavily forested area, but I walked alongside the enclosure instead of riding the train.

Yup, it has the train in it. I didn't ride the train either as it wasn't running that day. It housed Hog Deer, Pere David's Deer, Indochinese Sika Deer, Tufted Deer, and Indochinese Gorals.

The Oklahoma City Zoo is fantastic for hoofstock, with countless large paddocks showcasing a variety of deer and antelope. I thought that the vast majority of the zoo's enclosures were of a decent size, whether it was big cats, apes, canines, hoofstock, pachyderms, etc, everything was fairly large and naturalistic. I'd love to revisit this zoo when all of the construction is finished on both the Children's Zoo and the Asian complex, as I already think that this underrated zoo is terrific and has very few weak areas.

A lot of the hoofstock areas are gone now to make way for the Asian complex. This is the majority of the African antelope I think.

im sure mr SL will be dissapointed, don't you just get so anyoyed when a new deveolpment could include the animal making way for the exhibit?

I personally am not annoyed by the decision. I have seen the plans on the OKC Zoo website for the new development and it seems to be one of the most exciting construction projects in the US. The only animal that will lo longer be held (and I didn't get to see it when I was there either) that I would miss is the Somali Wild Asses.
