Pinniped ID

I have a suspicion this was wrongly signed. I'd rather let people form an uninfluenced opinion.

Definitely a fur seal, but I don't know enough to try and say one species over another. Is that really the entire space for the four seals though? Seems pretty small.

How did I become the seal guy?

Maybe South American Fur Seals (A. australis), but don't take that as a definite by any means.

Well, you are the antipodean guy ;) They were signed as Australian sea lions, but that didn't seem right at all. In the next tank are two Cape fur seals, but I thought there were some notable differences, so presumed they weren't just one group separated.
      Who is the seal guy?

Oh, right, well they're not Australian Sealions. I don't know that you'd be able to get an ID from this photo, but Cape and South American would be the two most likely candidates. This would be China I'm guessing, from the picture on the back wall, and China has imported loads of both species. It's easier to ID fur seals in real life than from a photo.

If I were to hazard a guess, they'd be South American Fur Seals and someone has translated the specific name australis into "Australian" and they became "Australian Sealions". (There are also Australian Fur Seals, of course, which are the same species as the Cape Fur Seals, but my guess is simply that "Australian Sealion" is the result of translation error).

Well, they managed to use the wrong latin name as well :p, but I still think you are probably correct.
