Planckendael - Asian Tropical House (Aviary)
The aviary for bali starlings (Leucopsar rothschildi) and sunda hooded pittas (Pitta sordida mulleri) inside the Tropical House in the Asia Area in Planckendael. The bali starling is one of Planckendaels flagship species to which the park dedicates special conservation concern. The large tropical house features mammals, birds and reptiles from the rainforests of South East Asia. The Asia theme in Planckendael is the newest theme currently being developed. The first major part (Gir Forest and Tropical House) was opened in 2006 while the next major part (elephants) will open in 2012. Planckendael, July 2011.
