"Touch Tank"

In an otherwise average aquarium, this feature really stood out. You can put your hands through these moon pool-like holes and touch the fish. Has this been done anywhere else? September 2015.

Definitely a unique concept, but it also seems potentially dangerous (for the fish, not the people). What is to prevent a nut job (translation - teenager :p ) from grabbing a fish and doing who knows what? "Male teen one to male teen two, 'I dare you to eat that fish!' "

I think I'd be more concerned about introduction of oils and chemicals from visitors' hands into the water. Is there a wash station there and staff to supervise?

Hand-washing facilities were available, although the exhibit was unsupervised. Other than that, I can’t see how it’s any worse than a regular touch-tank from a welfare perspective. Like Zooplantman, I’m sceptical about the likelihood of the Jonah Hill scenario, especially in Singapore. Perhaps that’s my own naiveté.
