Wow - a leucistic racoon dog
We were just talking on another thread yesterday about how many leucistic animals I am seeing (both in person and in photos) over the last year.

Are we sure this is not an Arctic fox?

Yes we are, 100% sure a white raccon dog. She sadly died a few weeks back.

very sad she died. Did she have a mate there or was she the only raccoon dog?

I saw an albino racoon dog, many years ago, in Duisburg Zoo.

With the absence the typical racoon-like markings, it lacked any resemblance to a racoon and looked very much like a white fox.

Albino Racoon Dogs are nothing special, they are bred at Fur farms for coats.

Yeah and this was one the Chinese didn't get hold off thankfully.

What have the Chinese to do with that ? Racoon Dogs , even the white ones,are also kept in Fur farms everywhere in the world...

i remember seeing pictures of a white raccoon dog in a private collection alongside normal coloured ones, looked like a new domestic dog species from a first glance.
