      Butterfly Garden: Firefinch sp.? September 21, 2017. Red-Billed has been exhibited here but this individual appears to have some blue on the stomach.

      I do not see the blue you mention and it looks like a good red-billed firefinch, the bill looks a bit bright, but that might have to do with light circumstances.

      did it look blue in life, or just from looking at the photo? I think I can see where you mean, mostly behind the branch, but it doesn't look blue.

      I'd say Red-billed Firefinch as well.

      I do not recall seeing blue in person. Looking at it what I saw as blue might just be shadows and the foliage I zoomed through playing tricks on me.
