Rostock Zoo - Darwineum - Galapagos tortoise exhibit

Rostock Zoo - Darwineum - Galapagos tortoise exhibit

This is the first exhibit you see when arriving at the Darwineum complex, and other than the great ape islands, it's the only outdoor exhibit of the complex. The reason why the tortoises are the first animals that can be seen is - to my knowledge - that the Galapagos Islands were among the chief places that helped Darwin think up the theory of evolution.

      July 2017.
