SAN DIEGO ZOO COMMITS KAGU FRAUD!

So I really wanted to see a kagu and made a real effort to find where their aviary was. I found the right enclosure and was thrilled to see a grey bird that didn't look exactly like picture, but it was the only grey bird in the enclosure. I got home and looked up kagu pictures on the internet and these are clearly not kagus. AUUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!

I'm not sure that their accusation would hold up in court. As far as I could tell there were no kagus in that enclosure, and for a kagu beginner these small grey birds hidden in foliage did somewhat resemble what was on the sign.

I saw them there on August 26th. Check my posting: http://www.zoochat.com/22/bird-collection-report-286515/

Kagus are much larger and they were on the ground when I visited. However, a keeper entered the enclosure and they went to a different side and completely vanished despite the enclosures being rather small.
