      Are goannas usually fairly calm animals in captivity? If one Googles 'do goannas bite?" there are some horrific stories of people sustaining nasty injuries...

      @snowleopard Well goanas are just monitors with an Aussie name so I'd imagine each species might vary in attitude from species to species. I have seen this species in an LA pet store, though.
