There is certainly a large amount of water for the malayan tapirs, and I wonder if the siamangs interact with the pachyderms very often.

Do the tapirs make use the large area of water? I thought they only used water to deficate and cool down.

There is a photo in the gallery of the tapir in the water.

Tapirs love to swim, a large pool is a must. when i was in Osnabruck zoo (Germany) i saw the whole group swim togther.
about the interaction with the siamangs...i didn't see it, the siamangs were on the tops and the tapir just swam around the island.

Can the tapirs get onto the island. It looks like it has a lip to prevent this and there is a lot of vegetation that would otherwise be eaten.

i think they can......but i am not sure.......

I was looking at the map, and the tapirs have land area on the rear shore. Judging by the vegetation on the siamang island, I would guess the tapirs do not have access.
