Siamese White-Crested Laughingthrush (Garrulax leucolophus diardi)

Do you know what subspecies of white-crested laughingthrushes are in other US zoos?
    • ThylacineAlive
How did you decide this animal was ssp diardi?

@ThylacineAlive I can't link to the pdf, but you should be able to find it - "The Laughing Thrushes" Open Access Journals, by J H Lindholm III, from 1997 - it says that this species has been bred in the USA since the 1960s in quite large numbers. In the 60s and 70s lots were imported from Thailand (subspecies diardi), so the author supposes all in US zoos are of this subspecies. However lots were also imported from India in the 1950s and 60s (subspecies leucolophus) - the author says he is unaware of any of these breeding.

@Chlidonias Thank you for the info. I know Josef, and while I didn't know about that journal, he's definitely a guy who would know! I'll have to give that a read.
